To partner with Production Management and the wider business at Oyster's Wroxham, Ashmanhaugh & Ipswich sites, ensuring Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance and best practice procedures and processes are in place.
The Wroxham & Ashmanhaugh facilities produce yacht series 565, 595, and 675, and at our Ipswich facility, we have a number of staff undertaking commissioning and skipper duties, and numerous office workers delivering our brokerage arm of the business. The employee workforce headcount at the three sites is circa 240 but with numerous contractors also. The vast majority of the workforce are hourly paid and are directly building yachts in a factory environment; the remainder are office-based.
Key Job Responsibilities
- A single point of control/reference for all (managers and employees) providing competent advice for all HSE issues in accordance with statutory requirements and Company policies and procedures.
- Ensuring that accidents and incidents are documented and tracked, with appropriate remedial actions and learning implemented accordingly.
- Ensure the practice of regular Risk Assessment, with ongoing review and update as required.
- Ensure statutory, mandatory, and company training requirements are met in relation to Health, Safety, and Environment and this is tracked, monitored, and reported on.
- Maintain and further develop the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) training matrix.
- Create, refresh, and/or edit Company policies, procedures, and processes relating to Health, Safety, and Environment.
- Lead on fire drills, marshalling, and training.
- Organise and deliver induction training at Wroxham, Ashmanhaugh, and Ipswich.
- Management of external specialist suppliers or consultants to ensure a comprehensive provision of HSE for the organisation.
- Collaborative working with HR on workforce health, safety, and well-being.
- Conduct HSE audits, collate findings, make recommendations, and work with management to address non-conformance and take corrective action.
- Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant HSE and welfare at work legislation, and communicate relevant changes to the business, as needed.
