DescriptionDue to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Safety Officer / Safety Manager to take a leading role in the management, development and oversight of their Health & Safety function. This is a position suited to a strong, commercially aware safety professional who can influence at all levels, work closely with senior management, and drive continual improvement across multiple live projects. The successful candidate will have responsibility for the effective implementation, monitoring and ongoing development of the company's Health & Safety Management Systems. You will act as a key advisor to senior management and provide leadership, guidance and assurance to site teams and clients.
Responsibilities- Lead and oversee Health & Safety performance across multiple live construction projects
- Conduct regular site audits, inspections and compliance reviews
- Provide professional H&S advice and guidance to senior management and project teams
- Develop, review and implement Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
- Ensure statutory inspections, registers and records are fully maintained
- Maintain and develop ISO 45001 certification and support ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 systems
- Drive continuous improvement of company H&S procedures and standards
- Maintain training, competency and compliance records using the Skillko platform
- Support tendering and pre-qualification processes, including completion of PQQs
- Deliver toolbox talks, briefings and targeted safety interventions where required
- Promote a strong, leadership-led safety culture throughout the organisation
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in a Health & Safety role within the construction sector
- Third-level qualification in Health & Safety or a related discipline
- Strong working knowledge of HSQE standards, legislation and management systems
- Proven experience dealing with senior management, clients and site leadership teams
- Construction experience essential; electrical contracting experience an advantage
- Excellent communication, report writing and presentation skills
- High standard of written and spoken English
- Strong IT skills
- Full, clean driving licence
- Construction Industry Health & Safety: 5 years (required)
- Licence/Certification:
- IOSH or NEBOSH (required)
