About Your New Role as a Health and Safety Officer

As a Health and Safety Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the highest levels of safety compliance on a range of construction and civil engineering projects. You'll drive proactive safety initiatives, conduct site inspections, and work hands on with teams to ensure a safe and efficient work environment. Main duties include:

• Oversee all site health and safety matters, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Conduct regular site audits, risk assessments, and safety training sessions.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, implementing corrective measures and reporting findings to management.
• Liaise with project management, subcontractors, and staff to drive a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
• Maintain and update safety documentation and records.

What Skills You Need as a Health and Safety Officer

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a Health and Safety role within construction or civil engineering.
• Relevant Health and Safety qualifications (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent).
• Excellent knowledge of current H&S regulations, best practice, and legislative requirements.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem solving skills.
• Ability to influence and promote a positive safety culture on site.
