Health & Safety Manager

We are looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to oversee the safe running of multiple MoD establishments in the South West (Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Wales). The successful candidate will conduct safety audits, investigate accidents, identify hazards and promote a strong safety culture across our operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct health & safety audits on MOD sites including offices, compounds, swimming pools and vehicles.
• Observe and assess work practices, identify hazards and recommend safety improvements.
• Report findings to the Site Manager, Account Manager and H&S Director, ensuring escalation and resolution.
• Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, perform root cause analysis, and recommend preventive measures.
• Promote a strong safety culture and encourage proactive safety reporting at all levels.
• Coach staff on best practices to enhance workplace safety awareness.
• Develop and manage audit schedules, ensuring regular reporting and compliance.
• Deputise for the Lead Health & Safety Manager and manage audits within MOD sites when required.
• Deliver ad hoc training, including briefings, toolbox talks and inductions.
• Carry out D&A testing for the responsible area.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years in a health & safety role.
• NEBOSH qualification (or a NEBOSH equivalent).
• IOSH qualification or working towards it.
• Experience within the hard FM sector preferred.
• Full UK driving licence.
