Job Description

The Health & Safety Business Partner is a senior role within the HSE Team, reporting directly to the Head of Health, Safety and Environment.

This role is crucial in enhancing our approach to Safety and Performance across business activities. Partnering with Leadership and Operational teams, you will adopt a proactive and coaching approach to inspire compliance and continuous improvement. The role involves embedding a culture of performance, building capability to lead and manage Health and Safety effectively. This is a hybrid role, based 3-4 days per week at our Reading office.

Responsibilities:

  1. Partner with Leadership and Operational teams to ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Standards and the Safety Vision.
  2. Develop, implement, and embed a Health and Safety Plan aligned with the Safety Vision.
  3. Influence, coach, and mentor teams to develop knowledge and application of safety management requirements, fostering positive safety behaviors and culture.
  4. Provide management information and trend analysis on safety and environmental performance data to Leadership and teams.
  5. Create standards, processes, guidance, and documentation to support cultural maturity.
  6. Identify capability and process gaps, and support development objectives to enable current and future work delivery.
  7. Offer advisory support on-site/issues related to health and safety.
  8. Manage outsourced H&S services effectively.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant health and safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH).
  • Knowledge of site safety risks, controls, and legal standards.
  • Strong communication and professional skills.
  • Proven experience in implementing best practices to drive safety improvements.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, delivering on time, within scope, and budget.
  • Experience with ISO 45001 certification management.
  • Experience in client-side construction or asset infrastructure sectors.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of MBNL's broader role and team interactions.
