Overview

AA Euro Group are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a major Energy from Waste (EfW) construction project in Essex. This is a high-profile, technically complex build involving heavy civils, structural steel, mechanical & electrical installation, and commissioning phases. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving a positive safety culture, ensuring full compliance with UK legislation, and supporting site teams in delivering the project safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of the project H&S management plan
• Ensure compliance with:
• CDM Regulations 2015
• UK Health & Safety legislation
• Company policies and procedures
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits
• Conduct regular safety walks and behavioural observations
• Assist with and review RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements)
• Permit-to-work systems
• Monitor high-risk activities including:
• Lifting operations
• Working at height
• Confined spaces
• Hot works
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts:
• Identify root causes
• Implement corrective actions
• Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings
• Liaise with:
• Subcontractors
• Site management
• Client H&S representatives
• Maintain accurate H&S documentation and records
• Promote a proactive safety-first culture across all teams

Key Requirements

Essential

• NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
• Previous experience in a construction H&S role
• Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015
• Experience working on large-scale construction or industrial projects
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to challenge unsafe behaviours confidently

Desirable

• Energy from Waste projects
• Power generation / heavy industrial builds
• Data centres or similar complex environments
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or Diploma
• Membership of IOSH (TechIOSH / GradIOSH)
• Experience with principal contractors or tier 1 contractors
