Head Veterinary Surgeon - Portsmouth Up to £90,000 DOE + Leadership Opportunity

The Role - Head Veterinary Surgeon

The successful candidate will take on a key leadership position, working closely with the management team to drive clinical standards and shape the future direction of the practice. This role combines hands on clinical work with team leadership, mentoring, and strategic input.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and inspiring a team of Veterinary Surgeons and support staff
  • Delivering high quality clinical care across a varied caseload
  • Setting and maintaining gold standard clinical protocols
  • Mentoring and developing colleagues to support their professional growth
  • Supporting business performance and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications: Senior Veterinary Surgeon or Head Vet experience, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to clinical excellence.

The Practice

The practice is a state of the art, purpose built veterinary surgery, offering a bright, spacious, and calm working environment.

Facilities include:

  • Two fully equipped operating theatres
  • Dedicated dental suite with digital and handheld dental X ray
  • Digital X ray and ultrasound imaging
  • Multiparameter monitoring equipment
  • Separate dog, cat, and small animal wards
  • Walk in kennels and isolation unit
  • Fully equipped in house laboratory

The clinic also has a growing caseload in exotics and small mammals, providing excellent variety and development opportunities for a veterinary surgeon with a broad clinical interest.
