Job Description

The Directors of the Gardener Schools Group are seeking to appoint a new Head Teacher of Kew House School (KHS) to succeed Will Williams, whose tenure since 2019 has seen the School take great strides forward. KHS is an inclusive, co-educational independent day school for pupils aged 11 to 18. The School is academically ambitious, attentive to the needs of the individual pupil and deliberately contemporary in outlook. Its ethos emphasises creativity, curiosity, originality and adaptability; the School's culture is warm and humane. As such, KHS occupies a distinctive place in the local independent schools market. It is the school of choice for many. The School enjoys a highly attractive West London location, close to Kew Bridge and within easy reach of the city. Its impressive facilities support a highly successful senior school with deliberately small classes and specialist teaching spaces. They also support KHS's wider educational offer, which provides outstanding creative, practical and co-curricular opportunities. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious, intelligent and energetic school leader. The new Head Teacher will be expected to articulate the KHS ethos and a clear vision for the School in such a way that will inspire the KHS community. For the successful candidate, taking on this headship will be a hugely exciting next professional step. The Gardener Schools Group is a family company that was founded 35 years ago by experienced former teachers. Today, the Group comprises four independent, co-educational schools in London which educate around 1,500 children aged 2-18 years. The Head Teacher works closely with the Chair, Managing Director, Director of Education and fellow Head Teachers across the Group. A highly competitive remuneration package is available commensurate with the seniority of the post and the experience of the successful candidate. Gardener Schools Group is an equal opportunities employer committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to a criminal background check and proof of qualifications in accordance with the requirements of the Children Act. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. Gardener Schools Group's Protection and Safeguarding Policy can be found on the school's website. RSAcademics is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and to promoting diversity and inclusion in schools.
