About Your New Employer

Our client, one of Ireland's largest Insurers and the leading Insurer to the public sector are looking to hire a Head of Underwriting into their growing function. Based in their city centre office with a hybrid working model of two days in office per week, the Head of Underwriting will be responsible for leading the delivery of best-in-class underwriting and product solutions that enable excellent member and customer service while driving the company strategy and performance

About Your New Job

• As the Head of Underwriting you will report to the Director of Underwriting, you will be a senior leader within the Underwriting Management Team, accountable for achieving underwriting profit and growth targets, while overseeing the day-to-day performance, leadership, and development of the underwriting function
• The head of Underwriting will play a pivotal role in shaping product strategy, enhancing underwriting capability, and ensuring regulatory compliance to support sustainable and profitable growth.

• Staying ahead of market developments to inform product and underwriting strategy.
• Collaborating on reinsurance strategy to secure appropriate coverage and placements.
• Developing and maintaining underwriting guidelines, tools, and processes for operational excellence.
• Driving quality assurance and documentation of underwriting decisions.
• Building technical capability through targeted training and development initiatives.

What Skills You Need

• Proven success in a senior commercial insurance role with strong underwriting results.
• Recognised market credibility and influence within the Irish insurance sector.
• Deep expertise in P&C products, pricing methodologies, and risk selection.
• Strong knowledge of reinsurance structures and strategies.
• Excellent understanding of Irish regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Commercial acumen with the ability to align underwriting to strategic goals.
