Head of Teaching and Learning

The Head of Teaching and Learning will support the Director of Teaching, Learning and Quality Improvement in driving excellent standards of teaching, learning and assessment across the College. The postholder will translate the College's teaching and learning strategy into consistent, high-quality classroom practice, working closely with curriculum leaders and teaching staff to secure improvements in teaching, learner engagement, progress and outcomes.

You will combine strategic thinking with practical classroom expertise, using coaching, professional development, quality insight, and evidence-informed practice to support teachers and curriculum teams to achieve their best.

As Head of Teaching and Learning, you will help turn our teaching and learning strategy into high-quality classroom practice, working with curriculum leaders and teaching staff to strengthen teaching, learner engagement and outcomes across the College.
The RoleWorking as part of the Quality team and reporting to the Director of Teaching, Learning and Quality Improvement, you will lead activity designed to strengthen teaching, learning, and assessment across the College.
You will:
- Work with curriculum leaders and teaching teams to identify and drive improvements in teaching, learning, assessment, learner engagement, and outcomes.
- Lead and manage the Teaching & Learning Coaches and specialists, ensuring effective coaching and support across the College.
- Lead and deliver high-quality CPD, coaching, mentoring, and professional development that translates teaching and learning priorities into effective classroom practice.
- Contribute to lesson visits and quality processes, providing constructive feedback and using evidence to identify improvement priorities.
- Lead and manage the College's Initial Teacher Education provision, supporting trainee teachers to develop their teaching practice and contributing to the future teaching workforce.
- Promote reflective and evidence-informed teaching, including effective assessment, questioning, feedback, adaptive teaching, and the use of digital learning approaches.
- Use learner feedback, quality evidence, and performance data to inform teaching and learning improvement and contribute to the College's Quality Improvement Plans.
