I'm seeking a highly experienced and motivated Head of Structural Engineering to lead a thriving structural engineering team for a busy multidisciplinary consultancy. Based in Cardiff, this role will involve steering the strategic direction of the team, managing projects across multiple sectors, and ensuring the delivery of innovative, high-quality engineering solutions. Responsibilities- Manage and oversee the delivery of complex, multidisciplinary projects across sectors such as Commercial, Residential, Health, Education, and Infrastructure.
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring strong relationships and exceptional service delivery.
- Mentor and support team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Review and approve technical designs, reports, and specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Lead business development initiatives, including bidding for new projects and identifying growth opportunities.
- Manage budgets, resource allocation, and project schedules to ensure profitability and efficiency.
- Stay abreast of advancements in structural engineering and incorporate new technologies and techniques into the team's practice.
- A degree in Structural or Civil Engineering and Chartered status (CEng) with a relevant professional body (e.g. ICE, IStructE).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering, with a proven track record of leading teams and delivering complex projects.
- Strong technical expertise in structural analysis, design, and modern construction methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and deliver outstanding service.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Experience in business development and an understanding of commercial project management.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software and design tools.
