Position Overview

We are seeking an inspiring early years leader to guide our vibrant Reception Department and shape the very first chapter of our pupils' learning journey. This is a rare opportunity to lead a dedicated team, champion exceptional EYFS practice, and create a joyful, nurturing environment where curiosity thrives.

As Head of Reception, you will play a pivotal role in driving high quality teaching and learning, supporting colleagues, and ensuring that every child feels known, valued, and excited to come to school each day. You will also have a full teaching timetable for a Reception class, modelling outstanding practice and setting the tone for our youngest learners. Your influence will help build strong foundations that carry pupils confidently into Year 1 and beyond.

Our school is a thriving and successful selective preparatory school for boys in North London, providing a high calibre education for all pupils (approximately 470) from age 4 to 13. We aim to ensure a happy, secure and energetic community in which our pupils and staff can flourish.

Located in Belsize Park, we are easily accessible on the Metropolitan, Jubilee and Northern lines.

Responsibilities

Lead the Reception Department and a dedicated teaching team, ensuring high standards of EYFS practice and an inclusive, nurturing environment.

Develop and deliver a full teaching timetable for a Reception class, modelling outstanding practice.

Support colleagues, share best practice, and drive professional development.

Prepare pupils for a confident transition into Year 1 and beyond.

Qualifications

QTS, Early Years Professional Status, Early Years Teacher Status or another recognised level 6 qualification.
