Job Description
Head of Quality, Compliance and Risk

Location: Multi-site role, with main homes based in Preston and Prestwich and regular travel across the Midlands. Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum, plus fully covered travel expenses. Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, standard office hours, with occasional on-call responsibilities to provide operational support to Registered Managers.

What We're Looking For
  • Significant experience working within children's residential care
  • Previous experience in a Quality, Compliance, Operations or Senior Management role
  • Strong knowledge of Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, safeguarding legislation and Ofsted requirements
  • Proven experience carrying out quality assurance, auditing and compliance monitoring
  • Excellent understanding of governance, risk management and continuous improvement
  • Experience supporting Registered Managers and operational teams to achieve positive outcomes
  • Strong analytical, organisational and report-writing skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Passion for improving outcomes for children and young people
  • Ability to influence, coach and support managers to achieve high standards
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) (desirable)
  • Experience supporting services through Ofsted inspections and improvement programmes (desirable)
  • Experience operating at Senior Leadership level within children's services (desirable)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Willingness to travel regularly across the Midlands
  • Successful applicants will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS check
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the organisation's Quality Assurance, Compliance and Risk Management framework across all children's homes
  • Develop and drive a culture of continuous improvement and regulatory excellence
  • Conduct quality assurance audits, inspections and compliance monitoring across services
  • Ensure compliance with Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements
  • Support Registered Managers and leadership teams to achieve positive inspection outcomes
  • Identify, assess and mitigate organisational risks
  • Monitor safeguarding practices and promote a strong culture of accountability and child-centred care
  • Analyse performance data and produce reports for the Senior Leadership Team
  • Develop and oversee service improvement plans, supporting managers to implement sustainable change
  • Lead on policy development, regulatory updates and compliance improvements
  • Promote trauma-informed practice and best practice across all services
  • Work closely with the Director of Care and Senior Leadership Team to drive operational excellence and improve outcomes for children and young people
