Head of Product Management

On behalf of the CPS, we are looking for a Head of Product Management (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based hybrid in any CPS office 2 days per week.

The CPS prosecutes criminal cases that have been investigated by the police and other investigative organisations in England and Wales. The CPS is independent, and they make their decisions independently of the police and government.

Their duty is to make sure that the right person is prosecuted for the right offence, and to bring offenders to justice wherever possible.

The Head of Product Management provides strategic leadership of the CPS' casework products as we build and improve user-centric digital services to support our mission-critical functions. The role will lead the development of standards, practices and skills of product managers, enabling innovation and agility, ensuring that our digital projects meet user needs, provide assurance around the management of public money and adhere to the highest standards of risk management - particularly in security.

As a Head of Product Management, your main responsibilities will be:
. Works with Senior Leaders within CPS areas and HQ Directorates to develop new ways of working, realise benefits and support continuous improvement.
. Provides leadership and sets the strategy for the casework products (including buy v build decisions), managing conflicting priorities and dependencies and ensuring that products continue to support colleagues in the delivery of justice to legislation, formal working practices and reporting requirements
. Significant member and active participant of the IT governance process, enable products to be delivered rapidly and improved continuously to better meet user need, taking a 'secure by design' approach and meeting cross-government standards for digital services, technology as well as criminal justice requirements (working with the Service Owner)
. Accountable for the delivery and continued improvement of a portfolio of products for an organisation of 7,800 users that works 24/7 to deliver justice where a failure to meet user need, a loss of service or a failure to meet criminal justice system requirements can cause significant damage.
. Articulate the vision, goals and priorities of DID and CPS to provide leadership and direction to the product management team and Hold responsibility for the development and implementation of an effective product road map for the directorate.
. Provides authoritative advice and guidance to colleagues on any aspect of product management, ensuring that CPS makes use of innovative tooling and approaches where it meets a clear user need and can reduce the time to market, enhance our security or reduces the cost or risk of delivery complex change

Essential:
. Previous experience within Head of Product management
. Previous leadership experience
. Ability to develop people and build capability
. Agile Project Management experience
. Proven track record of delivering digital products into large organisations
. Apply strategic thinking to provide the best service for the end user.
