This rolesits at the heart of how Drax engages with public policy, government and widerstakeholders. You'll shape policy priorities that underpin our corporatestrategy, provide trusted counsel to senior leaders, and ensure Drax is wellpositioned in a complex, fast-moving and highly regulated policyenvironment-particularly across energy, climate change, sustainability and netzero.

About theroleAs the Headof Policy, you'll represent Drax externally at a senior level, work closelywith colleagues across the business and External Affairs, and lead ahigh-performing policy team focused on impact and delivery.
Keyresponsibilities:- Identify and lead delivery of keypolicy priorities that support Drax's corporate strategy.
- Ensure cross-cutting policythemes and critical enablers are well developed and supported across theorganisation.
- Represent Drax at a senior levelthrough government, political and stakeholder relationships, and on publicplatforms.
- Support third-party engagementand communications in priority policy areas.
- Advise internal teams includingStrategy, Investor Relations, Climate Change, Viable Fuels, CarbonCapture, Regulation, Innovation and Commercial on current and futurepolicy trends.
- Collaborate with colleaguesacross External Affairs to ensure alignment between policy objectives,public affairs activity and external communications.
- Manage external consultanciesproviding policy analysis or project support.
- Provide authoritative counsel tosenior leaders, including the Executive Committee and Group Board, on UKpolicy developments and implications.
- Draft clear, concise andpersuasive policy briefings to support political engagement and policyreform.
- Oversee monitoring and assessmentof public policy developments impacting the Group.
- Represent Drax's policy positionsin external forums with policymakers, industry peers and opinion formers.
- Coordinate responses to enquiriesfrom elected representatives, working with internal teams to ensureappropriate sensitivity and rigour.
- Maintain close collaboration withinternational public affairs and policy leads and the Regulation function.
- Oversee technical studies tosupport policy development and lead consultation responses on key policyissues.
- Manage the policy budget andlead, develop and motivate a high-performing policy team.

About youYou'll be anexperienced policy and government relations professional with a strongunderstanding of how policy is shaped and delivered in complex, regulatedenvironments.
You'll bring:- A strong interest in politics andpublic policy, with particular focus on UK energy, climate change,sustainability and net zero.
- Proven experience leadingregulatory, fiscal or political engagement strategies, with directinteraction with government institutions and senior stakeholders.
- Experience working in highlyregulated sectors such as energy, pharmaceuticals, chemicals,construction, oil and gas or similar.
- First-hand knowledge ofgovernment decision-making processes and strong networks across politicalparties and relevant government departments.
- A proven ability to distilcomplex technical and commercial issues into clear, compelling messagesfor policymakers.
- A track record of challenging thestatus quo and influencing legislation to support business and sectoroutcomes.
- Experience building coalitionsand alliances to address complex legislative challenges.
- Strong analytical skills with theability to translate insight into actionable policy proposals.
- Passion for securing lastingpolicy change that supports the role of renewable energy in the economy.
- Excellent influencing skills andcredibility in senior corporate environments.
- Excellent organisational, writtenand verbal communication skills.
- Experience influencing tradeassociations and industry bodies by framing issues in a broader economicand societal context.
- Proven experience building andleading effective, delivery-focused policy teams.
