Job Description

Location: Remote (with office attendance a few days per week if local)
Reporting to: Head of Marketing

Overview

As Head of Performance Marketing, you will own and shape our end-to-end customer acquisition strategy. This is a senior, commercially focused role responsible for driving sustainable growth across all performance channels, maximising ROI, and building long-term customer value.

You will define how, where and at what cost we acquire customers, developing segmented, insight-led acquisition strategies that deliver qualified leads at scale. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, you will lead performance planning, execution, optimisation and reporting across multiple channels.

This role requires a strong leader who is equally comfortable setting strategy, analysing performance data, managing budgets, and rolling up their sleeves in an SME environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and articulate a clear customer acquisition strategy, defining volume, cost, timing and channel mix
  • Determine optimal customer acquisition cost (CAC) by segment and ensure activity delivers strong ROI
  • Build and maintain a long-term performance marketing roadmap, extending existing channels and testing new routes to market
  • Work closely with the Head of Brand to ensure above-the-line activity supports performance outcomes
  • Act as lead owner across all performance marketing channels, including:
    • Paid Social (Meta, TikTok)
    • Paid & Organic Search and website performance (including line management of the Organic Manager)
    • Data, marketing technology and attribution
    • Radio (dependent on experience)
    • Amazon (future opportunity under review)
  • Oversee website performance and conversion optimisation across the customer journey
Campaigns, Conversion & Automation
  • Plan, design and execute acquisition campaigns throughout the year
  • Drive qualified leads from target segments at an agreed CPL
  • Partner with the wider business to improve conversion through the funnel
  • Identify and implement opportunities to automate and scale acquisition activity
Performance, Reporting & Forecasting
  • Define, track and report on key performance metrics and KPIs
  • Lead weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual performance reviews with agency partners
  • Deliver regular reporting and insight up to Board level
  • Own quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting, ensuring spend is optimised and ROI-led
  • Lead annual econometrics reviews and performance modelling
  • Manage and maximise value from external agencies, ensuring strong performance and knowledge transfer
  • Build, develop and mentor talent within the performance function
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align acquisition with overall business strategy
  • Lead the marketing technology and attribution agenda, including modelling and analytics
Skills & Experience

You will bring:

  • A proven track record leading a successful performance marketing or acquisition function
  • Demonstrable experience setting and delivering customer acquisition strategy in high-volume environments
  • Strong analytical capability, with confidence using data to drive commercial decisions
  • Experience translating customer insight and research into profitable marketing activity
  • Budget ownership experience with a clear focus on ROI
  • A collaborative, people-first leadership style with the ability to develop and mentor others
  • Comfort working in an SME environment where senior leaders cover multiple areas
  • A genuine interest in the performance of all marketing channels, not just a single specialism
Agency background

Candidates may have agency experience, but this should not be their primary or most recent role.
