Job Description
Head of Operations Role Summary 
The Head of Operations is responsible for leading all operational aspects of a growing food retail business. This role ensures consistent delivery of high-quality products, exceptional customer experience, and strong commercial performance across all retail sites. You will drive operational excellence, improve efficiency, maintain food safety and compliance standards, and support scalable growth in a fast-paced environment.
Line Management responsibilities for Operations Managers, and Facilities Manager.
Reporting into COO.
Key Responsibilities People & Leadership- Clear plans for succession
- Build high-performing teams
- Drive engagement and retention
- Ensure succession plans in place for all
- Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with business objectives
- Oversee daily operations across all retail sites
- Ensure consistent execution of brand standards and product quality
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Clear communications strategy for retail stores
- Full Ownership of operational P&L performance
- Data lead decisions to improve results
- Clear operational plan for sales growth and profitability
- Full accountability for Annual Budget planning and delivery
- Ensure compliance with health and safety and food safety standards
- Deliver strong audit performance
- Implement risk-reducing processes
- Ensure a safe environment for all teams, customers and suppliers
- Accountable for performance of Facilities Team
- Accountable for Annual Budget planning and delivery
- Identify and propose potential new site openings
- Full ownership of new shop openings
- Drive improvement in operational systems
- Senior operations experience in food retail or hospitality
- Strong commercial and P&L management capability
- Knowledge of food safety regulations
- Multi-site leadership experience
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
CMgr, FCMI, MBA (Desirable)
