The Job Profile

Simon & Schuster UK is looking for an experienced and commercially driven Head of UK Non-Trade / Special Sales to lead and grow our non-trade sales channels across our adult, distribution and client publishing lists. This is a senior leadership role, reporting the UK Sales Director, with responsibility for delivering incremental, profitable revenue through key non-trade accounts, business development opportunities, subscription boxes and value channels. The role includes direct ownership of key Non Trade accounts which will be defined by the experience of the successful candidate.

The Job Role

The successful applicant will own and deliver revenue, profitability, budget and growth targets across non trade accounts while shaping and executing the UK non trade strategy for adult publishing. In this role, you will lead all non trade activity, including account management, bulk sales and bespoke publishing projects, and oversee the development of tailored editions, value formats and premium products designed for non trade channels. Working closely with editorial and marketing teams, you will identify opportunities early in the publishing process and ensure strong alignment between publishing strategy and non trade initiatives. You will collaborate with stakeholders across sales, editorial, marketing, rights and operations, and lead, develop and inspire a high performing non trade team.

The Candidate Profile

The Head of Non Trade Sale will bring significant experience in UK publishing sales, with a strong track record in special sales, non trade or key account management. Highly commercial and strategically minded, you will combine strong negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally. You will be results driven, focused on delivery, and proactive in identifying and maximising opportunities, while collaborating effectively and influencing across teams. It is essential to have a strong analytical and growth mindset, combined with creative thinking, a proactive approach to problem solving and a willingness to embrace change. It is important you have excellent system abilities, an expertise in spreadsheets, presentations and databases alongside time management skills that include prioritisation and delegation.
