About the Role

As Head of Maths at Salcombe Prep, you will lead one of the school's flagship academic subjects, shaping an ambitious, well sequenced and high performing Mathematics curriculum from EYFS to Year 6. You will drive excellent teaching and learning, support colleagues in delivering high quality lessons, and ensure pupils are equipped with strong fluency, reasoning and problem solving skills.

You will play a key role in preparing pupils for 11+ assessments and for a confident transition to Key Stage 3. Working closely with senior leaders and the Pre Prep Maths Champion, you will secure continuity, progression and challenge across the school, while promoting a culture of mathematical excellence through enrichment, competitions and scholarship level opportunities.

Your leadership will positively influence classroom practice, curriculum development and wider school improvement.

This is a permanent, full time role with a September 2026 start.

Who We Are Looking For

You will be an exceptional practitioner with a passion for Mathematics and a proven ability to inspire pupils and colleagues. You bring strong subject knowledge across EYFS-KS2, along with the confidence to stretch pupils towards KS3 level thinking.

You can analyse data intelligently, lead strategic improvements and model outstanding practice. You communicate clearly, collaborate effectively and thrive in a high expectation environment.

You will also be resilient, organised and committed to ongoing professional development, using your expertise to strengthen teaching, raise standards and shape a positive, high performing Maths culture across the school.
