The Role: Head of IT/IT Director (Airport Operation)

Location: Amsterdam Schiphol Airport area - Five Days Onsite

Description:

Job Context

  • The Head of IT/IT Director is responsible for creating and implementing IT policy, with a focus on process optimization. In this role, the Head of IT/IT Director is the driving force behind the IT organization, which must become and remain future-proof through project management, vendor management, service delivery, and governance.

Job Purpose

  • Managing the team and designing, improving, and maintaining IT processes for cargo handling, passenger services, and disaster recovery services at the Schiphol location.

  • ICT Strategy and Governance
  • Formulate long-term strategy, policy, and plans
  • Create support and ensure alignment within and outside the organization
  • Develop ICT architecture and policy, standards, and (performance) norms for usage and management
  • Justify proposals, consult internal and external experts, and ensure decision-making
  • Communicate policies to the organization and advise on content and application
  • Prepare and control budgets and expenditures

Technical Design (of Business Processes)

  • Consult with the client to align the assignment, analyze existing information systems and ICT infrastructure
  • Elaborate system requirements and concept, discuss developments and cross-influences in ICT infrastructure, inter-system relations, and hardware
  • Define criteria for construction and implementation, and develop technical design (demo version) of the (to be) developed system software
  • Investigate business processes (within defined assignment) and discuss plans/possibilities for modifying business processes
  • Analyze obtained information
  • Map out (desired state of) business processes, specify relationships between processes and related information systems

Operation and Optimization of ICT Services

  • Monitor performance, capacity of ICT infrastructure, and system usage; act when necessary
  • Initiate ICT improvements, translate them into investments, and assess the potential impact of changes
  • Analyze ICT architecture and respond to technical changes
  • Evaluate the basic designs of ICT infrastructure, advise on hardware, system software, and management systems
  • Ensure implementation and compliance with standards

Vendor Management

  • Contract vendors and prepare SLA agreements
  • Manage outsourced tasks to external service providers, monitor quality and progress
  • Build, maintain, and act as contact point for internal and external network

Cyber Security

  • Develop and maintain cybersecurity strategy, policy, and infrastructure
  • Implement data management and data security, define authorization levels
  • Risk management in IT processes

Project Management

  • Review accepted assignments, prepare project plan and justify the approach to the client
  • Assemble project team, define project phases, indicate time and cost per phase, and discuss with the team and client
  • Set up project meeting structure, administration, and reporting system
  • Lead project execution as Project Manager

Leadership

  • Direct, coach, and develop employees
  • Establish and monitor organizational, communication, and reporting structures
  • Conduct performance and appraisal interviews
  • Team development and recruitment-related activities
  • Ensure application of HR policies within area of responsibility

Compliance Regulations

  • Comply with legal and corporate obligations and procedures concerning quality, safety, sustainability, environment, etc.
  • Identify and timely report incidents, unsafe situations, and irregularities
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment

Working and Thinking Level

  • Higher Professional Education (HBO+)/University (WO)

Education/Experience

  • At least a Bachelor's degree
  • 5-8 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience managing logistics IT processes
  • Subject matter expertise (database technology, cloud solutions, and IT security)
  • Excellent Dutch and English skills (spoken and written)
