An opportunity now exists in Dun Laoghaire County Council for the position of Head of Information Systems.
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council performs a significant role in shaping the strategic vision of the County. It provides a diverse, comprehensive and evolving range of services to citizens, businesses and visitors to the County which include the provision of housing, planning, development, environmental, transportation, leisure and community services. The corporate headquarters are located at County Hall in Dún Laoghaire town. Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has 40 elected members and approximately 1300 staff.
Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council was established in 1994 and is located between the outer suburbs of Dublin City and the Dublin mountains; with its 17km of coastline, harbour, attractive towns and villages alongside communities where residents and visitors enjoy some of the best natural amenities in Ireland. The Head of Information Systems is a senior position within the Information Communications Technology (ICT) function of the Local Authority. The appointee will work closely with the Chief Executive, Directors and Senior Leadership team in their relevant Authority. They will lead a department which is responsible for the planning, development, control and maintenance of ICT.
As Head of Information Systems, the successful candidates will be expected to implement and develop the ICT strategy/vision to support the overall Corporate Plan of the Council and ensure best practice standards and codes of practice. The appointees will have an important role in the management of staff within the departments and will be expected to advise the Senior Leadership Teams on all ICT issues. The successful candidates will work in dynamic and progressive Local Authorities which provide a multiplicity of services to its citizens, in their respective counties.
