Head of Inclusion

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of Inclusion to provide strategic leadership for inclusion across the People Function and the wider institution.

Bringing significant expertise in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, you will provide strategic leadership, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements while championing inclusive practices that enhance colleague experience and organisational performance.

Reporting to the Director of Talent & Culture, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and embedding an inclusive culture across the institution. Through your leadership, you will help create a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected and empowered to contribute fully and achieve their potential.

What you would be doing

This is a highly influential leadership role, working closely with academic colleagues, senior stakeholders, staff networks and external partners to develop and deliver a long-term Equality Diversity and Inclusion strategy that strengthens staff experience, supports organisational effectiveness and embeds inclusive practices across the employee lifecycle.

You will lead a specialist Inclusion team and help ensure Imperial continues to evolve as a welcoming, equitable and inclusive place to work and study.

What we are looking for

We welcome applications from people with a range of professional backgrounds who can demonstrate the skills, experience and leadership needed to deliver meaningful impact. We ask all candidates to provide a supporting statement that addresses how they meet the following essential criteria:

• Senior leadership experience designing and delivering organisation wide inclusion or cultural change strategies in a complex institution.
• Proven experience translating the Equality Act 2010, Public Sector Equality Duty, case law and regulatory expectations into practical governance, policy and assurance frameworks.
• Significant experience leading Reasonable Adjustments, workplace access referrals, and disability/neurodiversity processes
• Experience designing or managing Bullying & Harassment pathways, including safeguarding and resolution routes.
• Experience establishing governance, standards and support models for Staff Networks or employee communities
• Demonstrable success embedding Inclusion learning or manager capability programmes.
• Experience influencing and partnering with Executive leaders, senior academics, and functional leads.
• Knowledge of best practice in disability inclusion, neurodiversity, bullying and harassment, conflict resolution and psychologically safe cultures.

This is a full-time (35 hours per week), open-ended position based primarily at our White City campus, with regular travel to South Kensington and other Imperial locations as required.
