Job Description
Head of Health & Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ)

CareerWise Recruitment is partnering with a prominent Galway-based company to recruit a dynamic Head of HSEQ. The Head of HSEQ is responsible for defining, leading, and continuously enhancing the organisation's Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental strategy across all business units. This role ensures full compliance with Irish, Northern Ireland, and EU legislative requirements, and alignment with Group standards and industry best practice.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and implement the organisation's HSEQ strategy, ensuring full compliance with Irish, Northern Ireland, and EU regulations.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, embedding a strong safety, quality, and environmental culture.
  • Drive HSEQ governance, reporting, and integration into project delivery, tendering, and supply chain management.
  • Lead major incident response, regulatory engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee health & safety risk management, incident investigation, and workforce engagement.
  • Develop and deliver environmental and sustainability strategy, ensuring compliance with permits, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance the Quality Management System, including audits and continuous improvement.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the HSEQ team while influencing performance across the wider organisation.
  • Track and report on HSEQ KPIs, using data insights to drive proactive risk management and business performance.
  • Promote a high-performance, accountable, and safety-first culture.
Job Requirements
  • Degree (Level8) and relevant professional membership.
  • Significant senior HSEQ leadership experience in construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish H&S and environmental legislation, with ISO standards experience.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive cultural and organisational change.
  • Desirable: Postgraduate qualification, SEVESO or multi-site experience, and exposure to sustainability/ESG.
