Head of Finance

Job Title: Head of Finance
Salary:£70-£80k
Location: Sheffield
Contract: Interim9-12 months

Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with a valued client in Sheffield to recruit a Head of Finance. This is a key role, leading a small finance team, maintaining strong financial controls, and ensuring accurate, timely reporting. The position also offers the opportunity to improve processes and deliver real impact during the contract period.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the finance team, setting objectives and monitoring performance.
• Oversee all financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of management and group accounts.
• Improve accounting systems, processes, and controls to drive efficiency and strengthen governance.
• Monitor cash flow, budgets, and forecasts to support business decisions and working capital management.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance.
• Provide the CFO and senior leadership with clear financial analysis, insights, and recommendations.
• Oversee payroll, pensions, benefits, and compliance reporting.
• Manage business risk and insurance coverage.
• Lead strategic financial planning, investment appraisal, and capital allocation.
• Support mergers, acquisitions, and integrations with financial due diligence and post-deal oversight.
• Maintain relationships with banks, funders, and investors to ensure financial resilience.
• Drive continuous improvement and automation within the finance function.

Requirements:

• Proven experience working within a Private Equity-backed business (essential).
• Fully qualified accountant, ideally ACA/ACCA.
• Strong technical accounting skills with experience in multi-entity environments.
• Proven track record in managing, coaching, and developing a small team.
• Demonstrated ability to improve financial processes and strengthen controls.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong working knowledge of finance systems.
