Overview

Susquehanna are seeking an experienced Head of Finance to lead the financial strategy, oversight, and governance & performance of our European Trading business. In this role, you will act as a trusted partner to senior leadership and Trading teams, balancing robust financial governance with a deep understanding of trading performance, risk, and capital efficiency.

The role combines hands on financial leadership with strategic and commercial insight, supporting decision making in a fast paced, performance driven environment.

This is a unique opportunity to join a successful, established business that is continuing to grow across asset classes and building the financial infrastructure to match that ambition. The European Head of Finance will be central to supporting and facilitating this growth.

What you'll be doing:

Financial Leadership & Strategy
  • Execute the firm's financial strategy in alignment with trading objectives and broader organisational priorities
  • Act as a key advisor to senior leadership on financial performance, capital allocation, and growth initiatives
  • Provide financial leadership across short term trading cycles and long term strategic planning
  • Own budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning with a strong focus on trading P&L and cost discipline
  • Financial oversight, compliance and control including Financial Reporting and compliance of European wide statutory, tax and regulatory requirements
  • Lead capital and balance sheet strategy, optimising corporate structure to navigate EU IFR and UK IFPR requirements
  • Develop deep understanding of trading strategies, risk profiles, and profit drivers
  • Partner closely with Heads of Trading and Operations to evaluate performance, incentives, and capital usage
  • Deliver insightful analysis linking financial outcomes to trading behaviour and market conditions
  • Support commercial decision making on new products, markets, technology investment, and headcount growth
Financial Control, Risk & Governance
  • Lead an organisational culture of financial integrity and control awareness across the business, ensuring governance frameworks keep pace with growth
  • Oversee accurate, timely financial reporting (daily P&L, monthly management accounts, statutory reporting)
  • Ensure strong financial controls, policies, and risk management frameworks in accordance with regulatory frameworks
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders including auditors and regulators
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory, tax, and accounting standards
Leadership & Team Development
  • Building and leading a high performing team in Europe, shaping a culture where collaboration, inclusion and accountability are lived every day
  • Driving meaningful impact across the organisation, influencing how the team's work connects to and advances broader business priorities
  • Coaching and sponsoring your team to reach their potential, with a genuine investment in their long term development and career progression

What we're looking for
  • 12 years' + prior experience in a Finance leadership position ideally within a trading, investment or financial services environment
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified
  • Demonstrated experience in building and shaping a high performing team culture, fostering an environment where accountability and collaboration drive results
  • Experience leading the people agenda with strategic intent, connecting team capability and performance to broader business priorities and translating organisational goals into clear, measurable objectives that give every individual line of sight to business outcomes
  • Passion for growing and developing your team, acting as a coach and sponsor who elevates both individual and collective performance
  • Working knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks including EU IFR and UK IFPR with experience managing a complect, multi entity European structure
  • Strong commercial mindset with proven ability to influence business decisions
  • Understanding of trading P&L, risk metrics, and financial drivers
  • An exceptional communicator and influencer, with the credibility and confidence to operate at senior leadership level and build trusted relationships across trading, operations, and external stakeholders
  • A leader with strong commercial acumen and a proven ability to translate financial insight into business influence and decision making
  • Comfortable operating in a high accountability, results driven culture
