We are now recruiting for a Head of Equity Partnering, Infectious Disease to lead the development of programmes partnering with the Infectious Disease team to embed equity across their strategy, funding and research activities and drive delivery against the Equity Framework.

Infectious Disease is a multidisciplinary team responsible for delivering Wellcome's strategy to address the global health challenge of infectious disease. The team has an ambitious goal to accelerate the discovery and development of new drugs, vaccines and interventions through to transforming the lives of people suffering from or at risk of infectious disease. This is done by funding research, product development and policy initiatives and focus on: Vector and Water borne Infections, TB, AMR, and Neglected Tropical Diseases.

The Head of Equity Partnering will embed as a senior member of the Infectious Disease leadership team to shape its overall strategic direction, providing senior-level guidance and advice. They will also be accountable and responsible for coordinating, managing and drawing upon wider resources in the Equity Department to drive delivery against Infectious Disease strategy, developing its strategic vision and building an evidence base to deliver against Wellcome's Equity Framework.

  • A senior and strategic expert withsignificant experienceas a researcher or research funder in the Global South, resulting in deep understanding of research and funding in these contexts

  • A credible expert, with a strong and broad understanding of equity in research/funding contexts, and a demonstrated ability to practically deliver excellent research and drive systemic change via embedding equity across the research and funding value chain

  • Strong,demonstratedability to partner, build productiverelationshipsand influence senior stakeholders to deliver strategic, measurableimpact

  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of deliveringequitableglobal research/health partnerships

  • TopicexpertiseinInfectious Disease as it relates to Global Health Equity, Equitable ResearchFundingand Inclusive Research methods
