Head of Engineering - Galway

A leading manufacturing site in Galway is undergoing major transformation and investment under private equity ownership. We are seeking a Head of Engineering to modernise the engineering function, embed reliability practices, and significantly improve equipment uptime (targeting an increase from 50-60% to 80-90%).

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a 30-person engineering team across maintenance, facilities, and projects
• Implement reliability, predictive and preventative maintenance strategies
• Improve equipment availability, changeover efficiency, and validation readiness
• Ensure full GMP/FDA/HPRA compliance
• Drive cultural modernisation and support digital transformation (incl. SAP rollout)
• Oversee capital projects and partner with Production, Supply Chain, and Technical functions

Experience Required

• Senior engineering leadership in high-availability manufacturing
• Strong GMP/FDA knowledgeProven track record improving uptime via reliability engineering
• Experience managing multi-product, high-changeover environments
• Experience leading transformational change within engineering teams or site operations
• Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and navigate complex organisational dynamics
