Head of Education and Player Care

Reporting to the Academy Manager, you will be responsible for the organisation, management and delivery of the full Academy Education Programme and take the lead on the implementation of safeguarding and player care to support the academic and personal advancement of all schoolboys, apprentices, and young professionals.
To be the "Academy Safeguarding Lead" responsible for raising safeguarding awareness within the Academy in consultation with the club's safeguarding lead.
- Lead and manage the Academy's Education Programme for players aged U9-U23, ensuring compliance with EPPP standards.
- Oversee scholar education, school release programmes, and academic progress, providing support and guidance to players and parents.
- Build strong relationships with schools, colleges, and education providers, ensuring smooth communication and player development.
- Act as the Academy's lead on welfare, safeguarding, and host family arrangements, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all players.
- Deliver and coordinate workshops for players and parents on education, wellbeing, and personal development.
- Represent the Club at regional/national meetings and contribute to Academy strategy as part of the Management Team.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure safeguarding policies and risk assessments are implemented effectively
- To always adhere to SWFC policies and procedures including H&S, ICT social media, Code of Conduct.
- To ensure Safeguarding practices and policies are implemented including the reporting of concerns via CPOMS and liaising with the Academy Safeguarding lead.
- To support a culture of treating everyone fairly and with respect in line with the Club's EDI commitment statement.
- To undertake personal CPD as appropriate to meet the demands of the role
- Any other reasonable duties as requested by the Academy Manager
- QTS - Qualified Teacher Status or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS)
- Degree level education or equivalent, preferably in a sports-related field, although not essential.
- Enhanced DBS check with children's barred list (provided by the club).
- Experience in teaching.
- Experience in the football industry.
- Experience in coordinating delivering and evaluating an education programme.
- Running an academic department.
- Managing safeguarding requirements for an organisation and dealing with individual issues successfully.
- Managing staff.
