Job Description

The Cambian Group is one of the largest providers of specialist behavioural health services for children and adults in the UK. Our work in the UK embraces many specialist services including children's specialist education, children's residential services, adult mental health, acquired brain injury and fostering services.

Cambian Dilston College is an independent specialist provider of further education in the North East of England, offering 38-week, 52-week residential as well as day placements for young people with learning difficulties, Autism, challenging behaviour and complex needs. The young people that attend our college range between 16 and 25 years of age.

The role

This is a Senior Leadership position within Dilston College, leading a large education team including Tutors, Teaching Assistants, Inclusion Officer and Curriculum Lead to innovate and improve quality of the provision. The Head of Education will be working alongside the Principal, Head of Care and Leadership team to develop the quality of our provision, staff teams' skills and abilities to deliver our college intent, working collaboratively to equip our students with the knowledge, skills and personal resilience that will prepare them for their best possible adult life.

Main Responsibilities

  • Be an active part of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Provide strategic leadership for SEN, inclusion, and curriculum development to ensure high standards of education and support for all students.
  • Lead the development and implementation of an inclusive curriculum that meets the diverse needs of all students.
  • Ensure provision is tailored to individual student needs, promoting academic achievement, personal development, and well-being.
  • Foster a whole-college culture of inclusion, ensuring all staff are equipped and supported to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Collaborate with families, external agencies, the Senior Leadership Team, the Care Team, and Clinical Team to achieve the best outcomes for students.
  • Drive continuous improvement in teaching practices and curriculum delivery, ensuring accessibility for all students.
  • Support the day-to-day operation of the college.
  • Be responsible and accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct
  • Treat students with dignity, building relationships rooted in mutual respect, and at all times observing appropriate boundaries as a professional, according to the individual's levels of capacity and cognition
  • Act within, the statutory frameworks, which set out their professional duties and responsibilities and in line with the Ofsted framework
  • Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of young people within the college

Requirements

  • Teaching qualification
  • Level 6 or above qualification
  • Further CPD and/or qualification in SEN.

Requirements for an Enhanced DBS and reference checking will be undertaken in line with government regulations and safer recruitment best practice.
