Head of Delivery - Environment Mansfield

An opportunity has arisen for a Head of Delivery to join the team at Galliford Try working out of the Mansfield office.

As Head of Delivery (HoD), you'll take charge of a high-profile programme of work under our Framework Agreements with Severn Trent and Welsh Water. From small-scale schemes to large, technically complex engineering challenges, you will guide multi-disciplinary teams to deliver excellence - on time, on budget, and to the highest quality.

You'll be the driving force behind a collaborative, forward-thinking culture - uniting Clients, Designers, Framework Partners, and the Supply Chain to create innovative, efficient solutions. As a trusted partner, you'll also play a key role in identifying new opportunities, expanding our services, and building long-term, sustainable relationships across the region.

What you will be doing:

As a senior leader, you will take overall accountability for the successful delivery of a portfolio of projects and programmes, ensuring alignment with both client and company objectives. You will lead by example to promote the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental (HS&E) performance, working closely with the HS&E team to embed a positive culture and behaviours across your portfolio.

You will provide strategic leadership to the pre-construction and commercial teams, supporting the development of robust and competitive bid pricing, with clear definition and management of risks and opportunities. Throughout the project lifecycle, you will identify, mitigate, and manage risk while ensuring that contract terms provide strong protection and value for the business.

In partnership with functional leaders, you will develop and implement delivery strategies and resource plans, including succession planning, to support programme requirements. You will foster strong relationships with the supply chain, promoting innovation and efficiencies to achieve sustainable cost reductions and deliver required operational performance.

A key part of your role will be managing and nurturing relationships with clients, customers, and stakeholders. You will act as the main point of contact for the client's senior team, ensuring alignment with the client's vision and operating model. You will build trust through openness, proactive stakeholder management, and acting upon feedback.

Commercial accountability is central to this role. You will ensure strong financial performance across your portfolio, contributing to regional targets and overseeing cost management through tools such as Cost Value Reports (CVR) and Cost to Complete (CTC) analyses. You will provide oversight of subcontract procurement and commercial negotiations, driving best value while managing conflicts effectively.

As a people leader, you will define and communicate a clear vision for your teams, establishing roles, responsibilities, and objectives that align with the regional organisational structure. You will manage resources and relationships to enable efficient delivery, ensuring performance standards are met through regular KPI reviews and continuous improvement initiatives. You will work collaboratively with other Heads of Delivery and Operational Leaders to operate as one integrated business unit.
