Job Description

This is a unique opportunity to architect and deploy a unified Marketing & Content Data strategy at the heart of a global financial institution. We are seeking a transformational leader to accelerate the sophistication of our marketing data integration and application practice, evolving it into a strategic Center of Excellence for the entire firm that provides predictive intelligence and strategic insight. Reporting to the head of Intelligence and Effectiveness on the Brand, Innovation, and Content team, you will enhance our data strategy and ecosystems, introduce innovative practices, and fundamentally upgrade how we measure drive growth and connectivity across the enterprise in partnership with business marketing teams and shared capabilities teams.

Responsibilities
  • Drive the strategic direction.
  • Take ownership of unifying and modernizing our marketing data strategy, overseeing a best-in-class capability that drives superior business outcomes and marketing ROI.
  • Partner with technology and data teams across the firm to influence the development of a forward thinking marketing data ecosystem, ensuring the data and tools are in place to power advanced analytics.
  • Serve as a key strategic partner to senior marketing leaders, the sponsorship and partnerships team, and business marketing partners. Use data to tell compelling stories, challenge conventional wisdom, and inform enterprise wide marketing strategy.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of annual marketing plans.
  • Key interaction role with Digital and IT teams for design and implementation of online and email solutions and campaigns.
  • Lead a team of seasoned marketing professionals, providing guidance on strategic growth plans across a diverse mix of industry verticals and partners.
  • Coach and develop team members, providing proactive feedback and challenging opportunities for continued learning and growth.
  • Align Marketing resources to support key priorities.
  • Provide thought leadership in internal and partner discussions regarding opportunities for portfolio and retail sales growth.
  • Deliver solutions that strengthen partner relationships.
  • Develop and strengthen positive relationships with senior executives at key partners.
  • Identify opportunities for enhanced efficiency through process improvements, automation, resource alignment, etc.
  • Make difficult decisions as the senior Marketing escalation point within the portfolio.
  • Facilitate the sharing of best practices and insights within team and across the Marketing organization.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing leadership team peers to identify and drive strategic initiatives within the Marketing organization.
  • Represent Marketing in select business development and partner renewal initiatives.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications
  • Progressive experience in marketing data strategy or a related field, including significant experience in a leadership and management capacity.
  • A proven, visionary leader with a distinguished track record of transforming and scaling data driven marketing functions.
  • A hands on practitioner with deep technical expertise in the application of statistical modeling, big data/machine learning, and advanced data analysis to solve complex marketing challenges.
  • A strategic thinker with a demonstrated ability to translate complex data into a compelling business narrative and influence senior executive level stakeholders.
  • A collaborative powerhouse with a history of building strong, trusted partnerships across business, technology, and control functions.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of marketing program performance, its impact on P&L, and the levers that drive business growth across audiences, offerings, and channels.
  • Demonstrated results working in a matrixed organization structure. Demonstrated ability to think strategically, analytically and creatively problem solve.
  • Ability to build positive cross functional relationships. Demonstrated history of prioritizing and allocating fixed resources across diverse initiatives.
  • Strategic mindset with a sophisticated ability to communicate and sell business rationale to internal & external counterparts.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, ability to compellingly present & persuade.
  • Proven influencing and relationship management skills.
  • Solid analytics skills and understanding of profit/loss drivers.
  • Proven track record of team coaching and development.
  • Planning and development skills, high comfort/knowledge with card business, including financial statements and reporting processes. Demonstrated experience in driving simplification and speed in the product development lifecycle. Demonstrated experience solving regulatory requirements in a compliant manner.
Education
  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred and managerial experience.
Additional Requirements

This role is classified as a Senior Management Function pursuant to the FCA and PRA Senior Managers Regime. Under this regime, employees in this role are assessed as fit and proper to carry out their duties. The role requires pre approval by the FCA and/or PRA before performing any regulated activity. The assessment will include extensive interviews, self disclosures, criminal record checks, reference checks, credit checks and other background checks. If hired, an annual declaration regarding fitness and propriety is required.
