Foundation Overview
The Invictus Games Foundation (IGF) is a global movement dedicated to supporting wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans through the power of sport.
Founded by Prince Harry, the IGF works to inspire individuals to reclaim their purpose, rebuild their identity and shape a positive future beyond injury. With a thriving community spanning 26 nations across every continent, the IGF engages governments, communities and stakeholders in advocating for sports recovery, mental health and systemic change. Through the Invictus Games and year-round sports recovery programmes, the IGF continues to drive transformative change in the lives of those who have served.
Role Overview
The Invictus Games Foundation is seeking an accomplished and strategic Head of Communications and Marketing to lead the Foundation's global communications and marketing efforts.
This senior leadership role will report directly to the Chief Growth Officer and collaborate closely with other members of the executive team, including the CEO, Deputy CEO and Chief Strategy Officer and the Board of Trustees. The role will also be responsible for managing and building a small team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a global communications and marketing strategy that amplifies the IGF's impact, elevates its brand and fosters engagement across multiple sectors including government, the Armed Forces community and the private sector, with a focus on in between and outside of when the biennial Invictus Games is held.

Key Responsibilities
Strategy Development & Leadership
- Lead the development and execution of the Foundation's global communications and marketing strategy, ensuring alignment with the mission and goals of the organisation.
- Provide strategic leadership and delivery across media relations, digital platforms, content creation and marketing campaigns, ensuring they reflect the Foundation's values of resilience, recovery and inclusion.
- Strengthen the communications function within the senior leadership team and lead efforts to professionalise and grow the communications function.
- Bridge the gap between communications and fundraising by collaborating with the wider team to ensure that all communications strategies support income-generation goals and strengthen the Foundation's position in the fundraising landscape.
Stakeholder Engagement & Brand Management
- Ensure the Foundation's global brand is consistently represented across all platforms and initiatives, showcasing its impact in inspiring hope and unity.
- Oversee and deliver all external communications, including press releases, digital content and media relations, ensuring clarity and consistency.
- Cultivate relationships with key external stakeholders, including governments, national leaders, partners, media, sponsors and potential donors to foster mutually beneficial partnerships.
Fundraising & Partnership Development
- Work closely with the fundraising and partnerships teams to align communication strategies with income-generation efforts, ensuring that marketing campaigns help attract and retain corporate, governmental and philanthropic supporters.
- Support the identification of new opportunities for fundraising through partnerships, sponsorships and media engagements, leveraging the Foundation's visibility and global reach.
- Oversee and contribute to the creation of fundraising content and materials that inspire potential partners and donors, demonstrating the impact and importance of the Foundation's work in supporting veterans.
Campaign Management & Digital Strategy
- Drive global campaigns that highlight the Foundation's work and impact in sports recovery, mental health and the wider benefits of its programmes.
- Develop and manage innovative digital marketing strategies to engage a global audience, leveraging social media, digital content and multimedia campaigns.
Impact Measurement & Reporting
- Establish metrics for evaluating the effectiveness of communications efforts, refining strategies based on data and feedback.
- Provide regular reports to the senior leadership team on the effectiveness of marketing and communications campaigns, focusing on impact and reach.
Team Building & Management
- Manage and develop a small team, overseeing their growth and providing day-to-day leadership
- Manage external agencies and contractors, ensuring alignment with the Foundation's objectives and maintaining the highest standards of delivery in marketing, communications, and fundraising efforts.
Experience & Skills
- Proven track record in global communications and marketing, with experience scaling brands and managing cross-regional campaigns.
- Experience in a foundation, charity, or NGO environment; private-sector experience is desirable but not essential.
- Strong background in media strategy, digital marketing, public relations and stakeholder engagement.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a focus on building high-performing teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
- A commitment to the Foundation's mission of supporting WIS service personnel and veterans.
