Job Description
MWH Treatment is looking to strengthen their Commercial team with a Head of Commercial for Alliance framework. Based in Peterborough, you will direct, lead, manage, and develop the Commercial function, including estimating and programme management within the framework, ensuring outperformance against the commercial expectations of all principal stakeholders.

The framework is a collaborative organisation of consultants and contractors working together to deliver more than half of Anglian Water's capital investment programme.

You will report directly to the Delivery/Commercial Director of the framework. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing commercial strategic plans to drive outperformance for the Business Unit.
  • Leading and managing all aspects of the business unit's commercial function to ensure successful delivery of the Alliance and Business Unit strategic objectives.
  • Procurement Team to establish, sustain, and maintain leading-edge procurement and commercial models that drive the right behaviours and deliver successful outcomes.
  • Estimating Team to establish, sustain, and maintain advanced project and programme estimating models, ensuring timely and accurate cost capture upon project closure.
  • Being responsible for cost and performance indicator assurance across the Business Unit, including profit/loss management against budget.
  • Being accountable for the commercial performance of the Business Unit, building strong relationships to drive collaboration and value.
  • Supporting the development of a positive culture, behaviours, and organisation, including employees and supply chain, fostering a commercially aware environment.
  • Liaising with senior stakeholders to manage and deliver their expectations.

Essential requirements include:

  • Significant experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial role
  • Experience in leading teams
  • A track record of delivering multiple high-value projects in Construction or Utilities
  • Degree-level education
  • Experience in change management
  • Management experience in commercial contracting
  • Proven ability to deliver strategic business objectives
  • Experience in best practice and commercial acumen
  • Strong risk and issue management skills
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and influencing skills
  • Ability to communicate strategy clearly and provide direction
  • Strong motivational skills and a history of successful team development
  • Ability to deliver quality outputs within tight deadlines
  • Commitment to continuous personal and professional development
