This role is available only to current employees of Birmingham City University.
As Head of China and South East Asia Recruitment and Partnerships, you will provide expert advice and market insight on international recruitment and partnerships in the region. You will support the development of our transnational education (TNE) provision across the region, ensuring regular communications between our multiple China and SE Asia partners, departments within the university, and engaging in the identification of potential new partnerships and supporting the production of comprehensive business cases. You will oversee all forms of partnership, advancing articulation agreements and top up courses, forging strong connections with our agent network across the geography.
The successful postholder will manage in country staff, prioritise commercial opportunities, maintain productive networks across their markets, and maintain an effective agent network across the wider region, deploying resources appropriately and tracking the competitiveness of our offer.
The role will include international travel and some weekend working.
Role Responsibilities- Develop network of agents and other partners across markets to drive recruitment performance.
- Support portfolio of transnational education relationships in China, liaising with Director of Global Partnerships.
- Ensure regular communications and manage coordination and delivery of services to all TNE partners and Joint Institutes in China.
- Direct in market staff across China and South East Asia, setting objectives and tracking performance.
- Manage relationships with current and potential partners, tracking performance and reporting to university leadership.
- Communicate with the Chinese Ministry of Education.
- Raise the University's profile across all territories.
- Coordinate University's response to requests from TNE partners and Joint Institutes.
- Conduct monthly meetings with all TNE partners and Joint Institutes in China.
- Work with and support relevant Academic Leads and Link Tutors to ensure quality provision.
- Conduct market research and provide expert advice on international recruitment and partnership opportunities.
- Drive international growth in China and South East Asia by working closely with teams across the university.
- Prepare and facilitate University visits to China and South East Asia.
- First degree level education.
- Experience in a marketing role with responsibility for market management and partnership development.
- Proven track record of international recruitment and partnership development.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Experience working in a Higher Education Institution in an international recruitment and partnership development role.
- Ability to communicate to all levels and across all cultural boundaries.
- Ability to communicate effectively in an additional language relevant to South East Asia and China.
- Ability to implement new developments and procedures.
- Ability to work in a pressured environment.
- Sensitivity to cultural issues relating to international liaison work.
