Head of Capital and Subsidiary Finance

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Financial Accounts team for a full time Band 8b Head of Capital and Subsidiary Finance role.

We are seeking an individual who is self motivated, pro active and has excellent planning and organisational skills. The post holder is required to have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The Head of Capital and Subsidiary Finance plays a pivotal leadership role in delivering high quality financial accounting, capital planning, and statutory reporting for HHFT and its subsidiary company.

The post holder leads the Trust's capital accounting, planning and forecasting, providing strategic financial insight, medium term capital planning (3 5 years) and expert advice to Executive and Divisional leadership. The post holder also acts as the Trust's VAT lead, ensuring compliance, maximising recovery and strengthening internal understanding.

Main duties of the job Capital Planning, Forecasting and Reporting

Lead the Trust's capital planning, forecasting and reporting for HHFT and its subsidiary, including 3-5 year capital plans for the Board and Finance & Infrastructure Committee.

Develop strong relationships with programme managers, Medical Equipment, Estates and Divisional teams to support long term asset replacement planning.

  • Produce high quality monthly capital reports, investigate variances and ensure corrective action is taken promptly.
  • Lead on implementation and compliance of capital policy within the group.
Financial Accounting and Reporting

Lead the production of monthly and year end accounts for the Subsidiary, ensuring full compliance with the UK GAAP and IFRS.

Oversee the production of statutory accounts and working papers for the subsidiary company under UK GAAP, managing all audit interactions to achieve timely sign off.

Work closely with subsidiary Boards to develop business plans, financial forecasts and commercial opportunities that align with the Trust's strategic goals.

Lead implementation of the Group's transfer pricing/charging policy.

VAT, Tax and Technical Financial Leadership

Act as the Trust's VAT lead, maximising VAT recovery, providing expert VAT advice and ensuring annual PESM/Business Activities claims are accurate and compliant.

Manage contracts and relationships with external VAT advisors.
