Head of Business Continuity and Major Incident Planning

Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Estates & Campus Services, this critical role will lead the business continuity, incident management and operational resilience support for the University. This will include the development, review and implementation of University of Lancashire's business continuity programmes and emergency planning frameworks and will be instrumental in supporting the introduction of the requirements of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (more commonly known as Martyns Law) across the University.
You will work with leaders across the organisation to develop effective business continuity plans and ensure appropriate emergency management plans, structures and processes are in place in preparation for, or in the event of, an incident. This role has line management responsibility for the University Risk & Resilience Officer.
About you:The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, and also have experience of working in the field of emergency management and Business Continuity; ideally with experience of working within the Higher Education sector. You should be able to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels and be able to manage competing demands. With the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, due to come into force in April 2027, you will have knowledge of the Act and a clear understanding of its requirements.
