LauristonGirls' School seeks a dynamic educator and an outstandingBrass, Woodwind or Percussion specialist, with a proven record ofexcellence in teaching and performance, to lead the BandsDepartment, comprising Brass, Woodwind & Percussion Staff andStudents, from Prep -12.
Aboutthe roleThisposition is 0.8-1.0 FTE, commencing Term 1, 2026 (or asnegotiated). This is a 12-month fixed-term position.
Thesuccessful applicant will be responsible for the management andpromotion of the Bands Program within the Music Department and theSchool.
Keyduties:- Leadand coordinate the Instrumental Music staff who work withinBands Department, comprising Brass, Woodwind & PercussionStaff
- Leadand coordinate the Year 5 semester-long BandProgram
- Activelyparticipate and contribute to Music Staff meetings andstrategic planning activities
- Collaboratewith the Director of Music and key staff and activelycontribute to the planning, preparation and actioning of Schooland Music events and activities
- Teachcollaboratively within the Bands Program, demonstrating andsharing best practice pedagogy and assessmentstrategies
- Conductand Tutor within the School's EnsembleProgram
- Deliverprivate instrumental tuition as either a Brass, Woodwind orPercussion specialist
- Teachcurriculum music classes and contribute to the planning,assessment and design of curriculum music
- Demonstratedknowledge and experience in leading, managing and developing aBand Instruments Program
- DemonstratedBand Instruments teaching experience (From Beginner to Advancedlevel)
- Excellentwind band conducting skills with demonstrated ability to directensembles from beginner to senior level
- Orchestraltutoring or conducting experience would be anadvantage
- Demonstratedability to lead a team of people
- Highlydeveloped organisational and communication skills
- Demonstratedexperience teaching curriculum music classes
- Highlydeveloped interpersonal skills and an ability to work withstudents from a wide range of backgrounds and differing levelsof ability
- Demonstratedproficiency ontheir instrument/s
- Acollaborative teaching approach is essential for working as amember of the Lauriston Music Department.
