Head of Art Management
The Office of Public Works (OPW) is a key service provider to the Irish Government, tasked with delivering on substantial capital project programmes and managing its estate portfolio, which includes circa 530 office buildings, and over 600 Garda properties, maintaining and presenting Ireland's built heritage including UNESCO World Heritage sites at Sceilg Mhichíl and Brú na Bóinne, 780 national monuments, 74 guided visitor centres and over 5,000 acres of gardens and parklands. In addition, it leads on the nation's flood risk management programme.
Within the context of the capital project programme and provision of office accommodation for Government Departments the OPW has responsibility for the management of the State Art Collection. This public owned art collection, which consists of 13,500 artworks, is dispersed in over 400 locations, mainly Government offices. It is the most widely dispersed public owned art collection in Ireland with over 80% of the Collection on display at any one time. It is essentially a working collection with a consistently high level of loan requests and constant circulation of artworks to client locations across the island of Ireland.
The OPW currently recruiting for a Head of Art Management in its Art Management Office. This is an opportunity for a highly experienced professional with significant knowledge of contemporary Irish art and extensive curatorial expertise, combined with an established background in public art commissions, to utilise their expertise and management skills in a client focused public sector role that promotes a high performance culture, combined with a commitment to supporting the arts in Ireland.
