Job Description

Barclays Chief Technology Office is hiring a Head of Architecture and Engineering for Wholesale Onboarding and Financial Crime.

The candidate will collaborate across teams, working with CIOs, solution architects, delivery leads, and engineers to deliver outcomes with an architecture and engineering first approach.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading Solution Architects to foster innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
  • Managing architecture delivery with an engineering first mindset.
  • Ensuring target and interim architectures meet standards and are well-understood and deliverable.
  • Considering broader impacts and evolving architecture in partnership with stakeholders.
  • Leading architecture governance aligned with Group standards.
  • Defining and delivering standard patterns and cross-cutting capabilities.
  • Evaluating emerging technologies and industry trends for strategic enhancements.

Purpose of the role

To develop and evolve the bank's technology architecture aligned with business and technology objectives, focusing on foundational platforms and products.

Accountabilities include:

  • Developing and implementing technology strategies.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders and teams to share expertise and improve processes.
  • Leading diverse teams and aligning business and technology strategies.
  • Assessing new technologies to meet current and future needs.
  • Balancing requirements of compliance, security, and funding while maintaining technological integrity.
  • Monitoring application performance and stability.
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance and adapting to industry developments.
  • Mentoring and supporting the architecture community.
