Woodlands Care Home, a luxurious and modern service for the elderly, is seeking a talented and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen team.

Although our home is less than three years old, we have already achieved outstanding recognition - including Care Inspectorate grades of and an impressive 9.9 out of 10 rating on carehome. These achievements reflect the high standards we uphold and the dedication of our team, led by our exceptional Home Manager. With a proven track record of success across two flagship care homes, she is known for her supportive leadership style and strong emphasis on staff development and progression.

As Head Chef, you will take full responsibility for delivering nutritious, beautifully prepared meals that cater to the diverse dietary needs and preferences of our residents. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and experienced culinary professional who can not only manage a well-run kitchen, but also design bespoke menus for fine dining experiences, seasonal events, and special occasions.

You will be leading a small, committed team consisting of one Chef and two Kitchen Porters. In addition, you'll act as a point of contact and source of guidance for other chefs across the Grampian region, helping to maintain consistency and culinary excellence across our group.

Contract Details

  • Up to £17 per hour
  • Contracted to 40-hours per week
  • Shift time is 7am - 6pm, 4-days per week

What You'll Do

  • Lead on the preparation, cooking, and serving of hot and cold meals tailored to residents' dietary needs.
  • Work with Head of Food and Home Manager to create nutritious, cost-effective menus using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
  • Supervise and support kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of hygiene, efficiency, and teamwork.
  • Deliver basic food hygiene training to care staff and stay up to date with culinary and food safety standards.
  • Manage stock rotation, ordering, and inventory; maintain accurate food safety records, including temperature checks.
  • Prepare kitchen rotas and support recruitment, helping to build and maintain a capable team.
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations in all kitchen and dining areas.
  • Oversee cleaning and equipment storage, maintaining a spotless, well-organised kitchen.

What You'll Bring

  • City & Guilds 706 1 & 2 (or equivalent); Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Proven ability to manage and inspire a kitchen team.
  • Strong communication and coordination abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership.
  • Experience in specialist dietary requirements or care environments is a plus.
