POSITION SUMMARY

Since 2011, we have always sought to showcase the incredible work of farmers and producers at origin. To do so we roast carefully, prepare our drinks skilfully with intention and focus, and most importantly, serve them honestly and humbly.

We are looking for someone to lead our coffee and hot beverage program at Workshop Coffee's flagship store in London's Belgravia. The Head Barista will be responsible for drinks standards on the bar, ensuring we retain our reputation for brewing, serving and presenting world class coffees to our customers. Working closely with the General Managers of the site they will be the lead on barista training both for our staff and for customer facing masterclasses and brewing sessions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create and serve coffee and tea beverages of unparalleled quality, working to uphold and evolve our high drinks standards
• Constantly exceed expectations with outstanding customer service
• Develop and maintain general and specific coffee knowledge
• Conduct financial transactions with customers at payment stations
• Maintain a spotlessly clean, organised, and well-presented bar and shopfront
• Happily assist staff from other departments when requested
• Confident to run a section, open and close shifts and passion for food and wine and going the extra mile to create guest experiences.
• Represent Workshop Coffee in the best possible light, at all times
• Maintain and adjust grinders to ensure coffees are brewed to recipe and tasting as sweet, clean and vibrant as possible, across the espresso, batch brew and hand-brewing program
• Skilfully texture various milks for different drink recipes and pour latte art to high standards
• Work cleanly, calmly and efficiently
• Welcome and intrigue our guests
• Stay up-to-speed on our continually evolving range of coffees and actively support customers wishing to buy beans and brewing equipment
• Work with a range of alcohol, tea, matcha, chocolate and basic food preparation
• Ensure hygienic drinks preparation, adhering to protocols to eliminate risks of cross contamination

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum two years experience in very high end coffee service essential
• Ability to engage with customers in a sincere and genuine manner
• Ability to work efficiently, diligently, and cheerfully with a variety of co-workers
• Strong English language communication and presentation skills
• Strong latte art, espresso, brewing and tasting skills
• Demonstrable understanding and knowledge of coffee extraction theory principles
• Ability to direct groups of staff
• Experience in problem solvingOrganisation skills and ability to 'roll with the punches'
