Join Sodexo as a Gym Supervisor at Merville Barracks in Colchester, where you'll lead our leisure team and oversee the day-to-day operation of a busy sporting facility. With a focus on safety, customer satisfaction and great service, you'll help create a welcoming environment for everyone who uses the facility.

What you'll do:

  • Plan and manage shift patterns, rosters, leave and staffing levels for full-time, part-time and casual team members, while keeping overtime within budget.
  • Lead and support the leisure team, including managing attendance, performance and on-site disciplinary matters.
  • Ensure all health and safety procedures, COSHH requirements, Safe Systems of Work and Standard Operating Procedures are followed.
  • Oversee swimming pool sessions, ensuring appropriate lifeguard and supervisory cover is in place and all lifeguard training and NPLQ requirements are maintained.
  • Coordinate gym and facility bookings, equipment set-up, climbing wall handovers and reception cover when required.
  • Carry out daily and weekly facility checks, including cleaning standards, key holding and opening/closing the centre, while championing a strong health and safety culture.

What you bring:

  • Previous experience of leading or supervising a team, ideally within a leisure or customer-focused environment.
  • A current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with customers and colleagues.
  • Good understanding of health and safety and the importance of maintaining high standards.
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative and manage competing priorities as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail, a customer-focused approach and good IT skills, including Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
