Job Description

Creating original and innovative luxury soft toys, Jellycat combines luxurious fabrics with quirky and cute designs and sells its products online and via stockists throughout the UK, Europe, and the rest of the world.

The Group Financial Controller is a newly created position responsible for delivering financial control and reporting practices at a Group level and coordinating delivery with operating entities. This role involves developing Group-wide financial policies and procedures, preparing Group management accounts, ensuring compliance with global accounting and tax needs, and supporting treasury requirements. The role also plays a key part in developing the Group's risk management framework. The Group Financial Controller will work closely with other Finance functions, including Global FP&A, Global Commercial Finance, Global Tax, and finance leads in each trading entity, as well as external stakeholders such as auditors and banks.

Key Responsibilities include:

  1. Financial control and policy development: Developing, implementing, and managing the Group Finance Manual; working with entity finance teams to tailor policies; establishing delegations of authority; leading risk management across Finance.
  2. Group reporting: Delivering management accounts; overseeing consolidation and assurance processes; reviewing entity accounts; leading audit processes; ensuring timely filings; developing KPIs.
  3. Accounting policy and guidance: Owning the chart of accounts; developing accounting policies; maintaining technical knowledge; advising on accounting treatments for new projects.
  4. Financial strategy: Reviewing group structure; maintaining transfer pricing arrangements; managing FX and cash flows; overseeing insurance and import processes; proposing structural changes.
  5. Systems development: Driving process improvements through system implementation and standardization; enhancing reporting capabilities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong experience as a qualified accountant with at least 5 years post-qualification.
  • Experience in delivering external and internal reporting in a large multinational.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems and system implementations; experience in finance transformation.
  • Understanding of treasury, intercompany relationships, and transfer pricing.
  • Microsoft Dynamics experience is desirable but not essential.
