Group Accountant

Butler Rose is recruiting for a Group Accountant to join a successful and growing local business in Bridgwater.

Looking for a commercial minded Accountant with at least 5 years' experience to take full ownership of an in-house finance function. This is a pivotal role, managing financial operations, delivering accurate reporting, and supporting the growth strategy of a fast-expanding business.

What you'll do

• Prepare financial statements, monthly P&L, balance sheets, and year-end accounts.
• Manage accounts payable/receivable and oversee VAT returns.
• Reconcile bank statements and financial accounts.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Use Sage (plus industry-specific software) for accurate reporting.
• Manage and develop a team of four finance staff.
• Work directly with shareholders to analyse performance and drive improvements.

What we're looking for

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or equivalent), with 5+ years in accounting.
• Commercial minded
• Strong technical knowledge and attention to detail.
• A natural leader with excellent communication skills.
• Able to balance multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines.
