New Hall School is seeking to appoint a proactive and organised Groom to support the smooth and efficient operation of the School's equestrian provision. This role is central to the School's care and wellbeing of its horses and delivery of its equestrian provision at both our Learn-to-Ride Centre, situated at the main campus, and at New Hall Park Farm, our livery yard in nearby Little Baddow.
Key responsibilities:- to support the effective day-to-day running of the yard, maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised environment, and assisting with maintenance, stock control and staff cover
- to prioritise and promote health, safety and safeguarding, carrying out routine checks, responding to incidents, and administering first aid within level of competence
- to ensure high standards of horse care and welfare, including daily health checks, stable and field management, grooming, handling and routine care administration
- to prepare, exercise and support the management of horses, including tacking, untacking, turnout, aftercare and maintaining tack and equipment to a high standard
- to support riding activities and lessons, including assisting with lead rein sessions and exercising or lunging horses where appropriately trained
- to assist with events, visitor engagement and administrative coordination, including organising veterinary and farriery visits and maintaining accurate records
- to have a clear understanding of, and commitment to, the aims and ethos of a Catholic independent boarding and day school
- to have a BHS Stable Management qualification (or equivalent experience, with a willingness to work towards the qualification)
- to have GCSE Grade 5 (C) or above in English and Mathematics
- to have a full UK driving licence
- to have experience of working on a yard
- to have experience of working with young people
- to have knowledge across the range of stable management practices
- to have the ability to administer first aid to horses
- to have excellent communication skills
- to have basic IT skills to support administrative tasks
- to promote and maintain high standards of horse welfare and care
- to have strong organisational skills and to prioritise workloads effectively

New Hall School offers an exceptional working environment. The main campus occupies the stunning Grade I listed former Tudor palace of Beaulieu. The School's conference and events venue is at the Grade I listed Boreham House, one mile away. New Hall is a warm, welcoming, and supportive community, with a staff of around 300.
Beaulieu Park railway station is at the entrance to New Hall's Avenue: 30 minutes to Stratford and 38 minutes to London Liverpool Street. The Elizabeth Line at Shenfield (13 minutes by train) terminates at Heathrow airport. There are nearby airports: London Stansted, London Southend and London City.
