This structured 2 year programme is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates, early career starters or career changers looking to build a future in Higher Education while gaining valuable teaching experience and recognised qualifications.
We have opportunities available at our centrally located campuses in London Bloomsbury, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester. This is a campus based role, with year round teaching delivery.
This role will start on 1st September 206 and operates on a 5-over-7-day working pattern, which may include evenings and weekends to support our flexible delivery model.
What you'll achieveDuring the programme, you will be supported to become ready for a lectureship in Higher Education and will complete the following:
- Associate Fellowship of Advance HE (Year 1)
- Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (Teaching Qualification) (Year 2)
The University covers all training and related tuition fees.
What you'll be doingAs a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will contribute significantly to the student learning experience, supporting teaching and academic delivery on the LLB.
Key responsibilities include- Delivering high quality teaching and supporting learning using a range of teaching and assessment methods
- Supporting workshops, tutorials, seminars, and teaching materials development
- Providing constructive feedback and feedforward on student work
- Ensuring quality and regulatory standards are upheld in teaching and assessment
- Supporting students with academic, pastoral and wellbeing signposting
- Assisting with administrative duties including admissions, timetabling, assessments and attendance
- At the time of offer, you must hold a minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree in law or a minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree in any subject plus a minimum Commendation/Merit in a law conversion course (PgDL, MA in Law or equivalent).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work professionally within guidelines and processes
- Confidence in presenting and engaging with groups
- LPC, BPC, SQE or a Masters in a legal subject
- Some practical legal or professional experience
Along with a starting salary of £29,500 (with a £4,300 London weighting allowance for London-based roles), increasing to £31,500 in year two, you'll benefit from:
