Graduate Sports Coach - AP school in Manchester

We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and committed Graduate Sports Coach to join our thriving AP (Alternative Provision) School. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate who is passionate about using sport to engage, motivate, and support young people who may have experienced barriers to education working with students across KS3 - KS5.

Working alongside teaching and pastoral staff, the successful candidate will deliver high-quality sports and physical activity programmes that promote participation, resilience, confidence, teamwork, and positive behaviour. The role is ideal for graduates considering careers in teaching, youth work, sports development, or pastoral support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging sports, fitness, and enrichment activities for pupils aged insert age range .
  • Use sport as a tool to improve engagement, attendance, behaviour, and wellbeing.
  • Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
  • Assist in the organisation of sports fixtures, tournaments, and enrichment events.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to support students both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Act as a positive role model, encouraging respect, teamwork, and personal development.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and participation.
  • Ensure all activities are delivered in line with safeguarding and health and safety requirements.
Person Specification Essential
  • Degree in Sports Coaching, Sports Science, Physical Education, Sports Development, or a related subject.
  • Passion for supporting young people and helping them achieve positive outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Resilient, patient, and adaptable approach.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students with diverse needs and backgrounds.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable
  • Coaching qualifications in one or more sports.
  • Experience working with children or young people in schools, sports clubs, youth settings, or community projects.
  • Understanding of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and challenging behaviour.
