Main duties of the jobA prosthetist designs, fabricates, and fits artificial limbs (prostheses) for patients who have experienced limb loss due to congenital conditions, amputation, or injury, helping them to regain mobility, function, and independence. Their role involves assessing patient needs, working with technicians to create the custom-fit devices, and providing follow-up care to ensure proper fit and function.

Job responsibilitiesResponsibilities include:
- Promote high standards of care to service users across a broad range of amputation levels.
- Act in a professional manner to colleagues, service users and their families at all times.
- Assess, measure, cast, fit, deliver, supply, review and adjust prosthesis as required across a range of amputation levels, both upper and lower extremity.
- Cast and rectify models in a timely fashion using both traditional methods and CADCAM where appropriate.
- Manage the patient's case, including patient expectation, ensuring the individual's needs are respected and ensuring the patient is informed throughout the process with clear explanations of proposed interventions.
- Work within the parameters of accepted best practice at all times using evidence-based practices to ensure that all aspects of practice conform to clinical governance.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the most appropriate and effective treatment for service users.
- Support colleagues and the wider MDT through collaborative working.
- Support student and apprenticeship clinicians by sharing learning experiences and mentorship.
- HPCP registered prosthetic clinician with some clinical experience desirable.
- Experience in lower limb prosthetics and upper limb prosthetics prescribing.
- Good computer skills and presentation skills.
- Experience with Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other MS Office products.
- Experience with Cad system desirable.
- Any other relevant qualifications or professional memberships.
- BSc Hons in Prosthetic and Orthotics or equivalent, required to qualify for HPCP registration.
