SLR has a large and successful planning and EIA team that works across all sectors, throughout the UK and Ireland and with the international business. We have an opportunity for an EIA consultant either joining as a Graduate within their first professional role, or with some degree of commercial post graduate experience to join our busy EIA and Planning team. The successful candidate will be expected to assist with the delivery of a range of projects principally within the Built Environment, Power (including Renewable Energy) and Waste and Minerals sectors. With projects across the UK and Ireland, this opportunity is an excellent prospect for the successful candidate to gain experience across a broad range of projects within multiple geographic areas. The candidate will be mentored by senior members of staff and be given the opportunity to be involved in EIA related projects. The role The responsibilities involved in this position include working within various sectors such as the Power sector, Built Environment, and Minerals and Waste sectors. You will be engaging with and shadowing experienced professionals to deliver projects and will be an integral part of the team.You will have the opportunity to become involved in the full breadth of environmental assessment and project management work. You will support the delivery of projects across a number of sectors including the Power sector, Built Environment and Minerals and Waste teams and will be expected to shadow a lead Technical Director and/or other senior members of the Planning & EIA team on a daily basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join dynamic, forward thinking planning team. SLR is moving towards a hybrid working model, and whilst this role would benefit from the potential for a flexible working environment, the successful candidate would be required to spend at least part of their working week within one of SLRs hub offices; in order to benefit from the mentorship of the environmental assessment team members - as well as technicians, landscape architects, ecologists, acousticians, air quality and hydrologists and other professionals across the breadth of expertise offered within SLR's hub offices. About you Candidates should be able to demonstrate: Environmental related degree or post-graduate qualification (or working towards) Good knowledge of the EIA Regulations and planning system. Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. Good report writing skills. Ability to work as part of a team and, if necessary, to manage a team of internal and external consultants. A keen ability to show initiative when necessary and be involved in business development or industry events. Good computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and some working knowledge of GIS. In design and MS project experience desirable but not essential. Good graphics and report presentation skills desirable. Excellent time management.
