Job Description
Job Overview

Quality & Safety Manager (Risk & Incident Management) - Grade VII. Reports to the Q&S Lead and acts as deputy to the Q&S Risk & Incident Lead, ensuring that the hospital delivers high quality, evidence based care through effective risk management, quality improvement, clinical audit and data driven decision making.

Responsibilities
  • Identify, assess, manage and monitor risk within the assigned area; support incident reviews and apply the HSE Incident Management Framework.
  • Oversee the implementation of recommendations from national and local systems analysis reviews; report progress to the hospital executive.
  • Provide specialist advice on the audit cycle, facilitate audit teams, and champion the adoption of quality improvement methodologies.
  • Use data and evidence to monitor service quality, benchmark against best practice, and identify opportunities for improvement across the organisation.
  • Supervise and mentor the Quality and Safety team, manage workloads, and maintain a positive working environment.
  • Represent the hospital in self assessment, accreditation processes and in liaison with departmental and executive leaders.
  • Promote a patient focused, open disclosure culture and champion equity and inclusivity in all services.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant administrative experience and 2 years of supervisory/management experience.
  • Practical experience with IT systems and packages.
  • Fluent command of English, both spoken and written.
  • Desirable: Master's degree in a related field and experience in the health sector.
  • Academic award in Quality in Healthcare at Level 8 or higher is an advantage.
  • Experience working in an Acute General Hospital, developing indicators, monitoring compliance, and delivering quality improvement projects.

  • Knowledge of current best practice in clinical audit, quality assurance and risk.
  • Ability to monitor and analyse compliance with standards and performance metrics.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Effective leadership, team management and the ability to influence multidisciplinary stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation abilities.
